A paradigm is defined as a standard, a perspective or set of ideas that determine how we “see” things. Paradigms demonstrate what we think and believe about a particular topic. Nowhere is the dysfunctional paradigm of the human race more obvious and prevalent than in the field of medicine and healing.  Statistics indicate that numbers are climbing at alarming rates in cancer, diabetes, heart disease, lung disease and multiple other chronic illnesses resulting in mega profits for the drug companies who manufacture and supply the remedies. Paradoxically, in alternative circles it is understood that orthodox medicine rarely treats the cause of an illness. It merely masks the symptom.

Today the average person relies almost entirely on physician care and drug prescription to cure whatever put their bodies out of alignment and caused a disease to appear. The direct implication of this paradigm is the belief that healing originates from another person (doctor), or from some prescribed pills or potions. The problem with this way of thinking is that it obliterates the most powerful source of healing that exists, namely, the Mind. The lost paradigm in healing is this: Mind and body is one thing – they can never be separated. Where the Mind goes, the body follows.

The body’s natural defense mechanism is activated by the mind and effective control of the thought process. However, if personal responsibility in the healing process is overlooked and entirely delegated to an outside source, then fundamental control of the healing process is sacrificed. This does not mean that you shouldn’t see doctors and specialists, but it does imply that positive mind control combined with whatever treatment is prescribed, puts you in a much better place to heal and healing will happen faster.

Many years ago Einstein explained why it is possible for the body to heal itself through effective use of the mind: “Everything is energy and that is all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.” So what is a frequency and how 10806333_10153247033175850_86593914524446007_n can we utilize this information to learn to heal ourselves? Our thoughts are  expressions  of energy. Our responsibility is to learn to distinguish if we are  entertaining negative  thoughts of disease, or if we are encouraging the body to  resume its natural ability to  heal through positive self talk. To understand this, you  may think of your brain as a  radio transmitter that broadcasts thoughts, directions  and vibrations to the cells of  your body. Just the same way you choose the frequency  of a radio when you move the  dial around, the very same way you choose your  frequency of health by the quality and  direction of the thoughts you constantly entertain about disease. Dr Bruce  Lipton said that the moment we change our perception is the very moment we begin to change the chemistry of our bodies. This is the starting point of all healing. Healing is a mental decision and commitment first before it becomes a physical reality.

True healing starts with a decision to heal or survive, and that choice is not your doctor’s. It is yours. Healing depends on having a goal to work towards – something the mind can focus on and begin to create. Therefore it is crucial to know how to formulate messages of healing. Never say, “I don’t want to be sick”, rather state, “I trust my body’s ability to heal itself.”

The good news is that it is never too late to learn how to reprogram your mind! There are multiple examples of patients whom the doctors gave up on, who suddenly clued into the powerful lost paradigm of self-healing. Dr Lissa Rankin talks about this phenomenon openly. Discouraged by our broken health-care system, she set out to discover why some patients experience miraculous cures from seemingly incurable illnesses, while others remain sick even when they receive the best medical care. These patients discovered the power of their own minds and it resulted in what some call miracles. The truly surprising aspect of self-empowerment is the realization that we were supposed to have this kind of control over our bodies! The mechanism to activate a miracle is effective use of your mind. Only, you won’t think of it as a miracle, you will think of it as the natural result of a powerful process you put in motion by taking responsibility for your own health.  ‘Mind over matter’ is not meaningless philosophy; it is very practical advice. It is real and it works.
